Retail Therapy SF: General Store

I had a lovely little San Francisco morning a few weeks back in the Outer Sunset with my good friend Jaime, and of course Carl the fog, and felt the need to share a wonderful store that we checked out called General Store. We grabbed some coffee and toast first at Trouble Coffee which is next store, also a MUST if you’re in the area, and fueled up before getting lost into this heavenly store. Before I get into the details of General Store, I simply can’t talk about the Outer Sunset without mentioning two of my favorite spots in the area to chow down. The first is Judahlicious which is a block away from the General Store and has tasty smoothies, acai bowls and some other vegan food options. I don’t really follow a vegan diet but I must say vegan food has never tasted so good. My second favorite is Outerlands which is right next to Trouble Coffee and has a killer brunch (especially on weekends) and delicious pastries. And there you have yourself a lovely little Sunday in the Outer Sunset.

Meanwhile at General Store, we both lost track of time admiring, touching, caressing, drooling, etc. at every single item. The design and layout of the store itself is like walking into an artisanal dream with a variety of hand-crafted home goods, apparel, jewelry and bath & body products. There was also a selection of unique vintage items including clothing, fabrics, jewelry and artwork. My favorite feature of the store was the garden out back which I could easily kick back with a good book and stay all day.

General Store was founded in 2009 by two neighborhood locals and has since opened a second location in LA. The company’s mission is all about bringing thoughtful and functional design to the local community through beautifully imaging and executed works from creative, inspiring craftsmen. Take a look inside, and you will see what I mean.

I love leaving a store feeling inspired and I can’t wait to get back to the General Store. Also, how adorable is my friend Jaime?
